SUP the Mag, the premier Stand Up Paddle Boarding magazine, featured the Boardworks Kraken 12’6 (touring model) in the latest issue!
The positive, full-page review shares, “Boardworks’ sleek Kraken Touring model is a quintessential, all-around flat- and open-water sled with a noticeable emphasis on stability and comfort. Its shape is a beefed-up version of Boardworks’ staple race offering, the Eradicator, a versatile design engineered for speed. By adding a few inches of width and swapping out the Eradicator’s carbon layup for a wrapped wood veneer, the Kraken Touring offers a less-specialized, more user-friendly option for fitness and leisure paddlers alike, with enhanced steadiness and durability that doesn’t drastically compromise the design’s signature speediness. Flat rocker through the center keeps the cruising clip quick, and merges with a V bottom in the tail so water can release fluidly without drag. The subtle but effective entry rocker was a welcome addition in rough water and surf. Besides the additional width, the board’s pronounced stability is partly attributable to its mildly recessed cockpit which affords a lower center of gravity that also contributes secure footing on the EVA traction pad. The Kraken comes with four tie-down plugs in the nose to secure bungees for storage, but as with many touring boards, we’d like even more storage. For a one-board quiver or a well-rounded addition that perorms reliably in both flat and open water, you won’t be disappointed with the Kraken Touring. -MM “
