Pelican International is looking for a Quality Supervisor to join its Laval team. You will be responsible for a team of unionized employees. He/she will act as a resource in terms of quality. We need you to ensure the satisfaction of our valued customers. Kayaking has never been as popular as it is today!
YOUR DAY IN THIS POSITION:
• Manage and support a team of 10 to 15 unionized employees spread over four shifts and two plants;
• Ensure the processing and follow-up of production quality issues (Holds);
• Represent quality at daily operations meetings (ROQ);
• Participate in various interdepartmental meetings and projects;
• Follow up on performance indicators related to inspection;
• Create and revise inspection forms in Isovision as needed
• Evaluate staffing needs based on production or operation volumes;
• Plan and coordinate the tasks and responsibilities of inspectors and assistant inspectors;
• To give the required training to the employees for the realization of their work;
• Organize bi-monthly meetings with the team of inspectors;
• Promote a healthy harmony within the team by ensuring that conflicts are resolved;
• Lead by example and act in a respectful manner in dealing with employees and others in the workplace;
• Communicate and enforce the organization's health and safety policies, procedures and regulations; Intervene with employees using management approaches, procedures or administrative tools recommended by the organization.
WHAT WE EXPECT FROM YOU:
You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in personnel management in a manufacturing environment, experience in quality management and a DEC or Bachelor's degree in mechanical, industrial or plastics engineering or any other relevant field. You have experience in metrology, experience in quality control with a focus on continuous improvement and you know thermoforming and different plastics (an asset).
You have a good knowledge of the Office suite and have excellent communication skills. You are known for your leadership, teamwork and problem-solving skills. Finally, you are open to change and have excellent organizational, planning and coordination skills.
